New Jersey-based diorama artist Matthew Albanese creates fascinating landscape photos out of meticulously detailed small scale models. Clever photography techniques involving scale, depth of field and lighting combined with innovative use of various materials help create these breathtaking images.
1. Moon Surface
Huge amounts of fireplace ash used to replicate the Moon’s surface
2. Volcano Eruption
Tile grout, cotton, glass, plexi, red phosphorous ink, six 60 watt bulbs & fake fog were used to create this model.
3. Tornado
Steel wool and cotton were hung to create the tornado.

The surface of the ocean is made of cooked sugar poured on top of crinkled foil.

Chocolate on top of parchment paper painted a specific shade of brown was used to create the illusion of water.The sky was made out of cotton pinned on the back side of a white muslin backdrop.

Coral is made from all sorts of materials such as wire, candlewax, preserved starfish etc.
