Milwaukee Police’s Slick New Website Is A Superb Exception To Ugly Government Websites
Government websites are usually an eyesore to look at and a headache to interact with. The choice of fonts, colors, layout, and the overall user experience is not very pleasant. Design and aesthetics are not usually a priority for the people who head these departments, and agencies are seldom able to produce innovative work in this domain.
However, there are exceptions, and one such exception is the Police Department of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who have come up with arguably the coolest website in this category. Created by Cramer-Krasselt and LISS Interactive, the new website includes a host of new features such as:
We found the vertical scrolling a bit stiff with multiple scrolls required to browse between sections. The nav menu on the right offers some relief however.
It’s nice to see design, aesthetics and usability being given a significant priority in this genre and we hope to see more government sites revamped with a beautiful and responsive interface.
