5 Tips For A Killer Portfolio

Your portfolio should showcase only your best work. Don’t use mediocre work as filler. Also, develop your skills using the “T-shaped” model, i.e., hold a thorough knowledge and strong skill-set in one subject, but also work beyond your area of expertise to collaborate in other fields.

Design resource site Pixelo has come up with an animated clip that shares five points to keep in mind while creating a graphic design portfolio. Check them out below.

1. All Killer, No Filler - Only show your very best work, and don't fill your portfolio with works that you aren't happy with.

2. Focus: The "T" Skill - Don't be broad, have a clear core strength, focus and be an expert on it.

3. Add distinctive elements - Add distinctive elements that set you apart from other designers.

4. Self Initiated Work - If client brief limits your creativity, then express your passion with self initiated work.

5. Keep It Fresh - The best portfolios are never static. Update your portfolio regularly with your better works.
