During the holiday season, American households produce 25% more waste sending an extra 5 million tons of garbage to their landfills mostly due to wrapping paper. More than 30 million trees are cut each year to meet gift-wrapping requirements. If we all reuse paper for just 3 presents, enough paper can be saved to cover 45,000 football fields.
Oxfam America and agency Preston Kelly have come up with a campaign titled “Give Naked” that encourages people to use household items like newspapers, scarfs, bandanas, old boxes etc. to wrap presents. Or even better – not wrap them at all. To get the message across, Preston Kelly created this…err…different but cleverly analogous promo video. Watch below.
