Children suffering from cancer get lonely due to prolonged hospitalisation and treatments that keep them away from their normal routine. To counter their isolation, Amaral Carvalho Hospital and creative agency DM9Rio (Brazil) developed a line of special teddy bears called “ELO” that receive and store audio notes from WhatsApp. Each child was given a teddy with an exclusive number on which friends and family could send messages anytime. When the children got lonely all they needed to do was press ELO’s hand and the message would be played back. Check it out below.

Kudos to everyone involved in creating this brilliant innovation that’s put a smile on these kids’ faces. We’ve seen some great work by Brazilian agencies in this category – like JWT Brazil’s Super Formula last year. Don’t forget to share this post and your feedback in the comments section below. You’ll also love watching how these 15 people with Down syndrome changed the perspective of millions.

If you believe nice guys finish last, have a look at this brilliant ad from Thai Life Insurance that proves, on the contrary, that they win every time. Titled “Unsung Hero” this heartwarming clip has skyrocketed to the top of the viral video charts with over 6 million YouTube views, 800,000 Facebook shares and 22,000 tweets in just one week.

The film description says it all really:

“Ever wondered, what is it we want from life exactly? Why do some people have plenty of money, still no joy. This clip might not be the answer, but it may be a starting point for you to do something, to find the answer yourself.”

Ogilvy & Mather Bangkok is the agency behind this campaign. Back in 2011, Ogilvy and Thai Life Insurance had teamed up for (what would eventually become) one of the year’s most popular viral videos titled “Silence of love”. Check it out below.

Southeast Asia seems to be a gold mine for emotion and sentiment-driven campaigns such as these. What’s your take on this advertising strategy? Don’t forget to share this post and your feedback in the comments section below.

Check out this cool marketing and product innovation by beIN Sports network. They’ve come up with a vuvuzela (loud plastic horn used by soccer fans) that works like a remote control and changes the television channel to beIN Sports every time you blow it. Why? So you soccer-fans can finally get your voice heard and watch the game instead of some boring crap.

How it works:

The BeIN “Game Changer” uses an Arduino setup with a mini microphone connected to a 8-bit microchip that transmits infrared LED signals to cable boxes every time the horn is blown.

TBWA\Chiat\Day, New York is the agency behind this ingenious campaign. Initially, they used a 3D printed prototype of the vuvuzela to test wether such a device was possible. Watch the making of the beIN SPORTS Game Changer below:

She had discovered that her baby was suffering from the genetic disorder and was scared regarding the child’s future. With World Down Syndrome Day (21st March) around the corner, CoorDown and agency Saatchi & Saatchi took this opportunity to create this heartwarming ad in response to the mother’s letter.

Brilliant work by Saatchi no doubt. The 2:28 film has skyrocketed to the top of the viral video charts with over 1.2 million YouTube views, 112k Facebook shares and 4300 tweets in less than a week. 2014 has seen some inspiring campaigns like the one from Samsung for the Paralympics and this one is no less.
